Quick Sick Day Tips with Temp Traq

When either one of my kids wakes up sick, it usually means we have a long day ahead of us. This past week Carrigan hasn’t been feeling well which lead me on the hunt for some sick day tips that might make the days a bit easier for us. I’m always up for trying new things to make sick kids more comfortable and for making the parenting job just a bit easier during these stressful times.

Here are some sick day tips that have been working well for us as we head into cold and flu season.

    Make Them Comfortable

One of the most important things is to help your kids get as comfortable as they can be when they’re not feeling well. When it comes to sick day tips this is a basic, but for us it looks like extra pillows and blankets on the couch in the living room. Our living room is central to our house so it also makes it more convenient for me.

I can still do my best to get things done that need to be done while they rest nearby.

I’m also willing to bend things a bit to make them more comfortable. Sometimes extra toys and books come downstairs with them. Screen time is also pretty much a given because my kids tend to be more willing to lay down and rest of they can play games on their tablets.

    Lots to Drink

Hydration is definitely a good focus when you’re gathering your own easy sick day tips for your family. When it comes to being sick, I let my kids have almost anything they want to drink as long it will help keep them hydrated. Ice pops are also one of my staples when we’re dealing with illness around here.

We always stock up on a variety of drinks that might appeal to the kids when they’re sick and you’ll find a freezer full of ice pops too! Keep them hydrated because dehydration just makes everything even tougher in the middle of a sick day.

    Watch the Temp

Although I’m not one to immediately jump to the worst case when the kids have a fever, I do think it’s important to keep an eye on it. Of course, I don’t like having to rouse them a bit to check their temperature when they’re sleeping. Waking them up is the last thing I want to do even when I need to check in on them!

The TempTraq® Temperature Monitor is a great solution to this little parenting challenge! It’s a Bluetooth® temperature monitor that continuously monitors you child’s temperature for up to 24 hours. All you have to do is download the app (available for both Android and iOS) and the monitor will continuously send the data straight to your device! It can even send you fever alerts!

The soft and comfortable patch is easy to apply (and remove) from the underarm area, just like an adhesive bandage.

The app also has a variety of monitoring features including:

    • Ability to email data to health care professionals and family mmebers
    • Track when your child eats and drinks which is important for hydration
    • Track when your child takes medication
    • Ability to monitor multiple TempTraq patches at the same time

So when it comes to waking up with a sick child, sticking to the basic sick day tips will help things. Keeping it simple is key when the family is under the weather. Stock up on supplies and be ready to just roll with the punches. You’ll be back to normal in no time!

Be sure to pick up TempTraq to monitor fevers so you’re prepared for your next sick day. It’s currently available at Target, CVS and Walgreens stores nationwide as well as TempTraq.com for $19.99. Buy TempTraq now!
