As a former teacher, my fellow educators and public education are very close to my heart. I still do whatever I can to support my children’s teachers and to support my friends who are still working in education. There are so many ways can support teachers and I’m excited to share a simple and free way we can support our local schools with SONIC’s Limeades for Learning!
This post is sponsored by SONIC Drive-In.
SONIC’S LIMEADES FOR LEARNING
So my family loves SONIC Drive-In. It’s a convenient stop for us on the way home from baseball and has enough variety that everyone can find something they like. I’m a huge fan of a Route 44 Diet Cherry Limeade.
They’re known for their limeade, right?
Well, SONIC’s Limeades for Learning program is making a difference for public school teachers, students, and classrooms all around the country and we can be part of it!
SONIC has been a supporter of public school teachers and students since 2009. In 2016, SONIC pledged to put $15 million into classrooms by 2021 through the Limeades for Learning. Partnering with DonorsChoose.org, over 33,000 classroom projects have been funded as part of the initiative.
SONIC donates to education multiple times during the year, including the Fall Voting campaign, Teacher Appreciation Month in May, and through special funding events throughout the year. My favorite thing about the Fall Voting campaign is that we can all get involved and help give back to our schools!
As part of this campaign, I had the opportunity to donate to some projects that stuck out to me.
I worked in a special education preschool classroom in a Title I school so when I spotted a project for another Title I preschool classroom, I was excited to donate. I was even able to find a local teacher’s classroom and donate to her project for STEAM materials as well!
One of the projects I donated to was very close to my heart. My experience working in low-income schools gave me a better understanding of how important basic school supplies can be. Not all of our students have them. One teacher was asking for basic school supplies so she could create learning kits for her students to take home. That is making a difference with a very simple project!
I love how easy it is to give back to teachers in our community!
SONIC FALL VOTING & HOW TO GET INVOLVED
The Fall Voting process is very simple.
1. Teachers submit their projects and request resources and supplies needed for their classrooms.
2. We vote for our favorite projects.
3. SONIC funds the projects that receive the most votes each week and deliver directly to the winning teachers!
THREE WAYS TO VOTE
There are three ways to submit your votes!
- Visit LimeadesforLearning.com and sign up with a valid email address. You will then be able to vote daily.
- Visit a SONIC Drive-In to get a bag sticker code worth two votes.
- Vote ten times to receive three extra votes via email.
Yes, it’s that easy to give back to public school teachers. We can do it just by visiting and enjoying our local SONIC Drive-In.
We can all join with SONIC and make a difference for teachers in our area!

My favorite teacher was my 3rd grade teacher. My dad was in the military and we had moved 3 times in 3 years. I hated being the new kid in the classroom over and over again. With frizzy red hair, glasses and a stutter I was always made fun of. My first day of school everyone laughed when I was introduced to the class. I wanted to cry. Mrs. Cumming’s, my teacher, told everyone to be quiet in a gentle voice. She took my hand brought me to a vacant seat. She then told the class that she just knew that everyone would be my friend and she would too. I did end up with a lot of friends and knew from that moment that I wanted to be a teacher too someday and help others.

Actually, my favorite teachers are my sons teachers. They retired from regular school and joined a private school, the private school pulled out of there location due to “not enough students” (no money) . These teachers decided they were committed to our children (9 students) and continued to be their teachers to finish out the year. They have continued to teach the children this year as well. That is dedication!
