    5 Must-Haves for a Tween Period Kit

    Family Life

As the mom of a girl who will be a young woman before I know it, there are a lot of things I think about as I watch her grow into the amazing woman she will be. As we look ahead to her first period, I want her to be confident. Putting together a tween period kit is an easy way to boost confidence and help her feel more comfortable.

    This is a sponsored post.

    TWEEN PERIOD KIT

Did you know that nearly 1 in 5 girls in the U.S. have missed school due to a lack of period protection?

Look at these numbers of girls who have missed school because their families couldn’t afford period protection:

    • New York City area – 143,000
    • Los Angeles area – 88,000
    • Atlanta area – 57,000
    • Houston area – 38,000

Not having protection during their periods puts girls at risk. Their confidence, dignity, and education can be at risk. These girls are less likely to attend school without protection and if they’re in class, they can feel distracted and unable to focus.

    Outside of Walgreens store

Always and Tampax are partnering with Walgreens to support #EndPeriodPoverty. We can all get involved and help ensure that no girl has to miss school because she didn’t have access to period protection.

We can support all girls, including our own. If you’re able, putting together a tween period kit is a great way to help your child feel more confident and prepared. It’s a care package for when they head out of the house to school or other activities. Incorporating Always and Tampax products gives us the opportunity to give back at the same time.

WHAT TO PUT IN A PERIOD KIT FOR SCHOOL

    STORAGE BAG

I recommend looking for a wet/dry bag that is a travel size. You can find them in different prints. Find a cute print that won’t look out of place in your daughter’s backpack or locker. I like wet/dry bags because they have two pockets — one for dry items and one for wet items, so you can store everything in one bag and deal with it when she gets home.

If you can’t find a wet/dry bag that will work, you can use something as simple as a pencil bag or makeup bag. You want the bag to have a zipper so nothing falls out. The important thing is to find a bag that will fit in your daughter’s backpack or locker without sticking out like a sore thumb.

    ALWAYS/TAMPAX PRODUCTS

Always and Tampax offer a wide variety of products that meet the needs of women of all ages. Plus, giving back while crossing needed items off your own shopping list is the best way to shop.

So now is the time to stock up! From now through August 28, 2021, for every purchase of Select Always & Tampax products, a period product will be donated to help end period poverty.

From now through August 28th, Always & Tampax products will also be Buy One, Get one 50% off (BOGO50) at Walgreens and Walgreens.com. You can also clip $3 off 2 Always or Tampax products on the Walgreens app for more savings. So there are easy ways to save while you shop and become part of the End Period Poverty campaign!

    SPARE UNDERWEAR

Tuck a clean pair of underwear in the bag so your tween always has a change in case of emergency. This one item alone can help boost confidence. When I’m traveling, I often put together my own period kit for my carry-on as well. Knowing I have a change of underwear and supplies with me makes all the difference.

    PLASTIC BAG

If you’re using a wet/dry bag, soiled items can go straight in the bag. If you’re not, put a small zipper close bag in your tween period kit so anything that is dirty can be sealed away.

    CLEANING WIPES

Find a small pack of cleansing wipes or put a few in a snack-size zipper-lock baggie. This will ensure your daughter has the ability to wipe off her skin if anything gets on it without having to worry about finding paper towels or leaving the bathroom stall.

These are just the basic items to include in a teen period box. You and your preteen can talk about anything else she might like to include in her DIY period kit to make her even more comfortable and confident.

Always and Tampax in a Tween Period Kit box

We can help our own girls feel more prepared while supporting those who also face period poverty. Let’s help #EndPeriodPoverty so all young women can reach their full potential!

Be sure to shop Always and Tampax products at Walgreens and Walgreens.com from now through August 28th!
