We kicked off our summer this year with an amazing stay at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio. Huge thanks to the hotel for providing us with a great little Texas staycation!
Visting JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa with Kids
If you’re wondering about the kinds of things your family might find to do on a visit to JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, let me put your mind at ease. You won’t have any trouble finding things to do together with kids of all ages!
From the moment we entered the front doors of the property, Weston was thrilled. He calls it the “big hotel” and asks me at least once a day when we’re going back. He was impressed before he even made it out to the grounds of the hotel!
Once we made it outside, my kids just wanted to follow the path all around the property to see what it had to offer. But there was one place they had seen from the balcony of our room that was on the top of Weston’s list — the pool area!
Carrigan wasn’t so sure about it at first, but she easily changes her mind once she realizes something gets her brother’s stamp of approval!
River Bluff Water Experience
Yes, it’s more than just a pool — it’s the River Bluff Water Experience! It includes a 650 foot lazy river, multiple water slides and pools, including a great area for the younger kids. And if you find you have some time without the kids, there is a great adults-only pool area as well!
We hit the pool early in the afternoon on a slightly cloudy afternoon and had the area to ourselves for quite awhile. The kids area was great for the younger ones with a zero entry area, two slow paced water slides, plenty of fountains, and a giant fish to climb on!
But we also spent a good chunk of time in the regular pool area which also has a zero entry area that was perfect for Carrigan. With plenty of seating around all of the pool areas, there was no problem finding a place for our towels. Weston and I had spent some time making a loop around the lazy river which was rather adventurous with a 4-year-old who has never used a water park inner tube. There were a lot of laughs from both of us!
Next time we visit, I look forward to checking out all of the water slides that Weston wasn’t interested in trying. He was happy with the ones in the kids area. But there are definitely slides for all ages!
Dining at Cibolo Moon
When we visit hotels and resorts, food and dining is one thing that’s on my mind. While I’m not a picky eater, Weston definitely is so the first thing I do is scan menus for options that he’ll like. If you have a picky eater, you’ll find some great food options for your kids at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa!
We enjoyed a lunch and a breakfast at Cibolo Moon, one of the amazing restaurants on the property!
The weather was nice enough at lunch that we were able to eat outside. It was a great option for us with the kids. Just across the grassy area was a large fountain that Weston loved so it was a fun dining location. With a side of fries ordered, Weston was happy. Grambo and I were able to enjoy some amazing guacamole as well as a delicious hamburger. I want to try everything on the menu!
While we loved our meals at Cibolo Moon, there are many more great dining options on property as well!
Range Riders Kids’ Club & Kid’s Night Out
In addition to daily morning rubber duck races and nightly S’mores around the fire pit, there are always a variety of kid-friendly activities going on at the resort. Your children can do yoga class, crafts, sports, and even head to Kid’s Night Out for some parent-free fun!
The Range Riders Kids Club offers supervised activities for kids between the ages of 4 and 12. It’s perfect for keeping the kids safe and entertained while you steal a little spa time while on your vacation. It’s a full-service recreation program for the kids!
Once a week, the Range Riders Kids Club offers Kid’s Night Out from 6pm to 10pm. It includes dinner as well as themed activities. On the night Weston went, he got to take the floor with the Disco Range Riders! He played games and danced the night away. After dinner, he had the opportunity to make his own groovy pillow to take home and watch a movie. When I picked him up, he was telling me all about the new friends he’d made!
