This easy to make tinsel ornament is the third ornament idea in the 12 Days of DIY Christmas Ornaments series! Yesterday’s Scrap Ribbon Ornament used small pieces of ribbon in the ornament. Today’s uses something you might have packed up in your Christmas decorations — tinsel!

12 Days of DIY Christmas Ornaments: Tinsel Ornament

Like the other ornaments in this series, you’ll need a clear ornament to start out. You can find both glass and plastic ones at most craft stores and even at dollar stores. So this can be an extremely affordable ornament to make. Affordable and easy is my kind of craft project!

    What you need:

    • Clear ornament
    • Length of wire tinsel
    • Scissors
    • Ribbon for hanging

    What you do:

    1. Cut the tinsel into the length of your choice.
    2. Push the tinsel strip into the ornaments.
    3. Replace the hook and tie with ribbon for hanging.

You can do these with solid color tinsel or you can mix different colors in one ornament. And there are so many different tinsel options available this time of year that it’s so easy to get really creative. Pick up your supplies and you’ll have beautiful ornaments in no time! I think these would be adorable on a small Christmas tree in the playroom or in W’s room!

What color tinsel would you use in your ornaments?
