How to Cook Air Fritters in the Air Fryer
These delicious pastries are so simple to make in the air fryer. There are not a lot steps to make these fritters, you will enjoy this sweet treat in no time. This recipe makes about 10 fritters and takes about 10 minutes to prep. Each batch of apple fritters takes about 8 minutes to air fry.
Preheat the air fryer to 350°. (Your air fryer model may not require preheating. This all depends on your specific model.)
In a large bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, sugar, and cinnamon.
Add the milk and stir until a soft dough forms.
Stir in the diced apples.
Use an ice cream scoop to form the fritters, placing each scoop in the greased air fryer basket.
Brush the fritters with melted butter, then cook in the preheated air fryer for 8 to 10 minutes, until the fritters are golden brown and cooked through. (Your air fryer model may not require preheating. This all depends on your specific model.)
Continue cooking in batches until all the batter has been used.
Transfer the cooked fritters to a wire cooling rack.
Make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, vanilla, and three tablespoons of milk. If the glaze is too thick, add more milk until the desired consistency has been reached.
Drizzle the glaze over the cooled fritters and allow it to harden before serving.
Can I freeze apple fritters?
Absolutely, air fried apple fritters freeze so beautifully.
I like to make a double batch and then freeze half for when the apple craving hits. To freeze apple fritters you will need to allow them to cool completely.
Once cooled completely wrap your air-fried apple fritters tightly in plastic wrap. I like to use double wrap my fritters just to give them a little extra protection. After wrapping your apple fritters in plastic wrap place them in a freezer-safe bag or container and store them in your freezer for up to three months.
To thaw your air fried apple fritters, simply remove your frozen fritters from the freezer and place on the counter. Allow your fritter to come to room temperature and then enjoy.
Don’t have the patience to wait for them to thaw? Place your frozen fritter on a microwave-safe plate and microwave for 30 seconds at a time until your fritter is warm through the center.
Can I use a different type of apple?
You can certainly use a different variety of apple. I like to change my apples up and just use what apples I have on hand. Being honest though, we love honeycrisp apples in our house so we almost always have honeycrisp apples on hand.
