    Air fryer halibut is a recipe that checks all the right boxes: quick, healthy, easy, and customizable. Itโ€™s also a pretty family-friendly white fish because of itโ€™s mild flavor.

    • Perfect for Adding Flavor:ย Halibut is kind of like a blank canvas. It soaks up the flavors of whatever seasoning or marinade you use. The recipe below uses a mix of seasonings that Iโ€™ve tweaked to our liking but you can try other seasonings! Some ideas include Cajun spices, cayenne pepper for heat, or even soy sauce and sesame oil for an Asian vibe.

    Ingredients & Equipment

    The ingredient list for this recipe is pretty basic. It might look on the long side, but itโ€™s mostly the seasonings and thereโ€™s a a good chance you already have most of them in your pantry!

    Hereโ€™s what youโ€™ll need:

    • Halibut portions
    • Lemon juice
    • Olive oil
    • Salt
    • Black pepper
    • Garlic powder
    • Paprika
    • Lemon wedges or slices, for garnish

    Youโ€™ll also need a few things from your kitchen, including:

    • Air fryer
    • Silicone brush
    • Measuring spoons
    • Tongs โ€“ to flip the fish

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    This recipe makes 4 servings. It takes 5 minutes to prep and approximately 10 minutes cook time.

    Step 1. Preheat the air fryer to 375ยฐF. If your air fryer doesnโ€™t have a preheat setting you can just set it to air fry at that temperature for a few minutes before you put the fish in.

    Step 2. In a small bowl, stir together the lemon juice, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

    Step 3. Place the fish in the air fryer basket and brush both sides with lemon juice mixture.

    Step 4. Set the air fryer to cook for 10 minutes. Halfway through the cook time, remove the basket, turn the fish over, and brush with additional sauce.

    Step 5.ย When finished, garnish with lemon if desired and serve.

    Leftovers & Reheating

    If you have leftover air fried halibut, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. You can also freeze it in a freezer-safe bag for 3-4 months.

    For reheating leftovers, I recommend using the air fryer for the best results. If reheating from the fridge, 3-5 minutes at 360ยฐF usually works well. You want the halibut fillets to be warmed through but not all dried out so donโ€™t overcook.

    You can also had a squeeze of lemon or a light drizzle of olive oil after reheating to freshen up the flavor.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Flip gently.ย Use tongs or a wide spatula to flip the fillets. Just be gentle as they can be very tender. If youโ€™re worried about them sticking, you can spray the basket with nonstick cooking spray, but the oil on the fish should help prevent any sticking.
    • Flake with a fork.ย Cook your halibut until it flakes with a fork and is golden around the edges.
    • Serve with your favorites.ย Halibut pairs well with so many side dishes. It goes well with rice and a vegetable. Try green beans, broccoli, asparagus, brussels sprouts, or even a baked potato. You can also use it to make fish sandwiches and fish tacos. Itโ€™s tasty with tartar sauce too.

    Can you cook frozen halibut in the air fryer?

    You can! You donโ€™t even have to thaw it. Follow the recipe but add 2-4 minutes of extra cooking time to your total time.

    How long should you cook halibut in an air fryer?

    The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the filets. If they are on the thinner side, you want to reduce the cooking time. I recommend checking your halibut filet around 6-8 minutes. If theyโ€™re thicker they could take up to 12 minutes.

    How do you know when halibut is fully cooked?

    You want the halibut to be flaky and golden brown. The internal temperature should be between
