I love making side dishes that I typically associate with summer and making them in my slow cooker. It keeps me from turning on the oven as much and makes them into side dishes I can make year-round. Crock Pot baked beans are the perfect example.
I love the savory, rich sweetness of baked beans paired with pretty much anything off the grill. Add potato salad and I’m happy. It just feels like summer. (I also like baked beans with macaroni and cheese. I blame that on one of my favorite BBQ restaurants!)

CROCK POT BAKED BEANS
I’ll admit that my baked beans journey with the slow cooker started with me warming baked beans in Crock pot. Yep, when we had a bunch of people over, I would empty a bunch of cans of my favorite canned baked beans and keep them warm in the Crock Pot!

But then I started to want a little bit more and decided to find a way to do my favorite thing and make a recipe more homemade tasting. These Crockpot baked beans with canned beans . It can be done!
You can make Crock Pot baked beans from a can and not have it taste like they came from a can!
HOW DO YOU MAKE BAKED BEANS FROM SCRATCH IN A CROCK POT?
To make baked beans from scratch in a slow cooker, you’ll need a variety of canned beans and seasonings. Don’t let the ingredient list scare you! It might be longer than I usually go with but they’re all very basic ingredients!
If you check your kitchen now, you probably have a lot of them!
- Canned pork and beans
- Canned red beans
- Canned pinto beans
- Canned kidney beans
- Bacon
- Ketchup
- Molasses
- Worcestershire sauce
- Yellow mustard
- Paprika
- Salt
- Sugar
- Cumin
- Garlic powder
- Black pepper
- Cayenne pepper

CAN YOU PUT RAW BACON IN A SLOW COOKER?
The answer is yes, you can. For this recipe, I generally just chop the bacon and put it in the slow cooker. If you’re not comfortable doing that, you can cook it before you add it to the baked beans.
CROCK POT BAKED BEANS RECIPE
Open all of the canned beans. Drain the red beans, pinto beans, and kidney beans.
Pour all of the beans, including the pork and beans, into the bowl of the slow cooker.
Add the chopped bacon, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses Worcestershire sauce, and mustard to the beans. Stir until it is well mixed.
Mix the seasonings together in a small bowl. Then add them to the bean mixture and stir well.
Cover the Crock Pot and cook on LOW for 6 hours or on HIGH for 4 hours. Stir occasionally.
Serve with your favorite main dish. This recipe is great for large groups because you can turn your slow cooker down to the warm setting an serve your slow cooker BBQ baked beans straight from the Crock Pot!

Ingredients
- 1 28 oz can pork and beans
- 1 16 oz can red beans (drained)
- 1 16 oz can pinto beans (drained)
- 1 16 oz can kidney beans (drained)
- 6 slices bacon (chopped)
- 1 cup ketchup
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup molasses
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp yellow mustard
- ½ tsp paprika
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp cumin
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp mustard powder
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Add the pork and beans, red beans, pinto beans, and kidney beans to the bowl of your slow cooker.
- Add the bacon, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard to the beans. Stir well to mix.
- In a small bowl, mix the paprika, salt, sugar, cumin, garlic powder, mustard powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper together. Add the spice mixture to the bean mixture and stir to combine.
- Cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for four hours, stirring occasionally.
