In the middle of winter, whether it’s a snowy day or a dreary, rainy day in the South, there’s nothing like holding a mug of a warm drink while sitting under a cozy blanket. One of my favorite things to do is get out my slow cooker and make Crockpot Russian Tea. It’s so easy to make and works great for larger groups too if you’re entertaining.

    CROCKPOT RUSSIAN TEA

Homemade Russian spiced tea is a recipe that will make the house smell amazing. It’s made with strong black tea and a mix of juices. There are other recipes that use an orange drink mix and instant tea to make it more of an instant drink recipe, but I love to make a batch of this tea and let it warm in the Crockpot for a few hours.

The original recipe calls for granulated sugar but we’ve been working on making some sweetener swaps this year. So I used Truvia, America’s favorite natural, calorie-free sweetener. It’s naturally sweet from the stevia leaf and has a great taste every time. It works well in this spiced tea recipe.

Truvia has no sugar and no calories. If you want to reduce the calories in this tea recipe, you can also choose juices with less sugar and calories as well! It’s an easy recipe to tweak and make fit into your lifestyle while enjoying a warm cup of comfort on a cold winter day.

Mug of Russian Tea and a bow of Truvia

Russian tea is not originally from Russia, despite the name. It’s a mix of orange juice or orange drink mix and tea. Sometimes it’s also called friendship tea.

To make this recipe you’ll need orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and black tea. Adding in the Truvia sweetens up the deal a bit more. The cinnamon and cloves are the ingredients that really pack the punch of comfort that I look for on days when the weather isn’t the best.

If you’re craving comfort in a cup, you might have everything you need around your house. If not, add everything to your shopping list so you’re ready to make a batch of this Russian tea recipe whenever the mood hits!

    HOW TO MAKE SPICED TEA

This tea recipe takes a few minutes to prep but once everything is in the Crockpot, you don’t have to worry about it until you’re ready to enjoy it! That makes it great for parties or even for winter movie afternoons with the family!
