I know people have mixed feelings when it comes to Elf on the Shelf ideas. But I love making it easy and affordable so I’ve been trying to share some of these ideas this week. I think our elf is a great way to create some great holiday memories as a family. Yesterday I shared a way to use cereal to have your elf leave a message for the kids.

Affordable and easy to plan! Today’s idea is just as easy to plan and you can incorporate it into other holiday traditions you might have like baking cookies!

If you need more ideas, check out all of my Elf on the Shelf ideas!

Elf on the Shelf Ideas: Get Cooking

One of our favorite holiday traditions is to bake Christmas cookies. We use them as gifts for our friends. Sometimes we make CDs with some of our favorite tunes to go along with our cookie treats. So I thought it would be easy for our elf to introduce the idea of getting in the kitchen and cooking together.

It could be baking cookies together or making another meal together. My elf found a lime as you can see (because we have a lime tree in our backyard) so I thought it could be fun to have him suggest that we make limeade together! W loves when I use the limes off our tree to make “lemonade.” Why not let him help?

Elf on the Shelf Ideas: Get Cooking with the Family!

This is one of the easiest Elf on the Shelf ideas. Just plan what sweet treats or meal you want to make with your kids. Snag an ingredient to pose your elf with and leave a little note for the kids letting them know the plan! It’s simple and can lead to some amazing holiday memories when you get in the kitchen together!

What recipe would you make with your kids this holiday season?
