    Glitter Germs Activity for Kids

This post may contain affiliate links view our disclosure

Now that school is back in session, my mind goes straight to the winter germ season which means it’s time to teach the kids with a fun glitter germs activity!

Seriously though, one of the most important things I think I can do is teach them about good hand hygiene. I think it leads to us being healthier (and happier) through cold season.

Making it fun to learn about spreading germs has been the key to my success in getting Weston to actually wash his hands and not just play in the water!

Teaching them is easy when they're having fun! I love the simple ingredient that makes the glitter stick to their hands!

    What You Do:

    1. Mix some lotion and glitter in the bowl.
    2. Then have your child put some of the “germs” on their hands and rub them together.
    3. Shake hands with each other or let them touch different surfaces to learn about how germs can be spread!

You can then extend the glitter germ activity lesson and by adding some toys into the mix!

Let your child get the “germs” on their hand and then play with some small toys so they can see how the germs spread. It’s a fun little germ spreading game for them but I like to think they’re learning at the same time!

Then let them practice washing the toys and their hands off with warm, soapy water. It’s a great way to teach them while having some hands-on fun!

I LOVE this idea and activity!!! I am trying to find ways to get an elementary school to educate kids about hand washing and even find ways to have the kids actually wash their hands after the playground. I see that you were a teacher, any ideas for me to present to the teachers in how to quickly have kids wash hands?!

My and my younger sister’s schools are closed due to the coronavirus. We are teaching each other certain subjects and for mine I got music and science. I couldn’t think of anything to do then my mom suggested a project on germ spread and prevention. This was SO helpful. I just thought I would say thank you for sharing all of this information. ☺ I appreciate it.
