    Cleaning

This post may contain affiliate links view our disclosure

Spring is on its way and in my house, that means the laundry really starts piling up! From play clothes with mud on them to sports uniforms, I’m always looking for ways to make our laundry routine easier while still getting our clothes as clean as we need them! These simple laundry hacks for busy families do just that!

You don’t have to sacrifice clean to save time! I promise!

This post is sponsored by Tide.

    SIMPLE LAUNDRY HACKS

If you’re looking for clean clothes hacks or more of a “how to do laundry for dummies”, these laundry tips and tricks will definitely help!

One thing busy families always seem to have is a lot of laundry and in our family, I end up doing large loads in an effort to work my way through laundry more quickly. If you find yourself doing larger loads and have concerns about how clean your laundry is getting, these tricks will help you feel more confident.

I’ve also got a few time-savers that work in the laundry room no matter what size loads you’re washing!

    SORT WITHOUT SORTING

I know that sounds weird, but you don’t have to spend tons and tons of time sorting your family’s clothes.

One of the easiest ways I’ve found to save time sorting laundry is to buy a few extra hampers or laundry baskets.

We use the extras to sort the clothes as they get put into the laundry. Even the youngest kids can do this! When the baskets make it to the laundry room, the clothes are already sorted!

DON’T GIVE UP ON LARGE LOADS

A lot of people say that smaller loads will help you get cleaner laundry, but it just doesn’t work for my family. With three adults, two active kids, and two dogs, the laundry piles up quickly.

Large loads are part of my life and instead of giving them up, I found laundry detergent that I know can handle my large loads. We’ve used Tide laundry detergents for a long time and now Tide has an option that makes it easy to get clean clothes, no matter what size the load!

Tide Power PODS offers us the ultimate clean one large load at a time! With 50% more cleaning power than Tide Original Liquid, Tide Power PODS tackle large loads so stains don’t sneak through.

The Tide Power PODS are designed to work in any machine, any temperature, and any water condition. So they’re an easy addition to the laundry room and one of the easiest laundry hacks you can make if you wash large loads regularly! Tide Power PODS Spring Meadow offers 2 times more freshness power versus 2 Tide PODS so you know you’re going to get the clean and fresh laundry you want!

    STAND UP TO STAINS

If you find yourself dealing with dried-in stains (and who doesn’t from time to time if you have kids), Tide Power PODS are also a great option! I’m a huge fan of Tide Power PODS Heavy Duty 10X because they’re designed for impossible stains!

Tide Power PODS Heavy Duty 10X works on stains like grease, oil, red wine, blood, or smoke as well as caked-on dirt.

If you’re looking for more stain-fighting laundry hacks, try one of these:

    • Chalk – Chalk can be used to help remove grease stains from clothing. Rub the stain with chalk and then put it in the washing machine.
    • Hair spray – To help get ink out of clothes, hold aerosol hair spray about six inches away and spray the stain. Blot the fabric after spraying. Repeat if needed and then wash.
    • Hydrogen Peroxide – If you have a tough grass stain, rinse it in warm water and then soak it in hydrogen peroxide and let it sit for 30 minutes. Remove the clothing and gently rub the stain, then put it in the washing machine.
    • Salt – A paste made with some salt and water can help remove fresh blood stains. Use a toothbrush to scrub the salt paste into the stain. Rinse and repeat as needed. Then wash with your regular load.

    SAVE TIME ON SOCKS

Pairing up socks is one part of doing laundry that I find myself dreading. Digging through them all and trying to pair them up feels like it takes so much time. I’ve followed tips on buying only one kind of socks so they all match but somehow we always end up with a collection with some variety of everyone’s socks that have to be separated.

I spend time pulling them all out of the load and setting them aside to match after I finish folding. That’s the time that probably irks me the most. But there’s an easy solution!

A mesh bag is great for undergarments, but it also works great for socks! Keep a mesh laundry bag attached to your laundry baskets so your family can put socks in it when they’re putting other clothes in the hampers. This keeps everyone’s socks sorted and keeps them all together too! Toss them in the wash and they’ll come out ready to be paired and put away!

A MARKER IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM

One of my favorite washing machine hacks has nothing to do with laundry detergent or cycles. It has to do with a dry erase marker!

If you’ve ever had an item in the washer that needed special handling or maybe you wanted to make sure it didn’t end up in the dryer, this hack is for you!

Instead of running around the house making sure everyone knows about the article of clothing or stalking the machine through the entire cycle, use a dry erase marker to write the directions on the machine!

This also works well if you have kids learning how to do the laundry. You can use markers to write the directions directly on the machine!

    Tide Power PODS 10x

If you’re ready to try Tide Power PODS, this is your last chance to take advantage of this high-value coupon!

Depending on your favorite store, you can get a $2-3 off coupon!

    • Kroger – $2 off Power PODS only (expires 2/4)
    • Publix – $2 off Power PODS only
    • Meijer – $2 off Power PODS only, expires 2/4

You can also get $3 off with the P&G Everyday eSaver coupon too!

With help from Tide Power PODS and these easy laundry hacks, you’ll be ready to tackle anything your family tries to throw in the washing machine!
