What is a Fluff Salad?
Fluff salad is a sweet, creamy dessert salad thatโs made with whipped topping, pudding or jello mix, fruit, and mix-ins such as mini marshmallows, nuts, and shredded coconut. Some popular types of fluff salads are this Watergate salad, ambrosia salad, and strawberry or orange fluff.
Itโs often served as dessert or a side dish.

Step 1.ย Combine the pistachio pudding mix and whipped topping in a large bowl. Gently stir until well mixed.

Step 2.ย Fold in the crushed pineapple, chopped pecans, and mini marshmallows into the pudding mixture.
Step 3.ย Cover the bowl and chill for at least one hour before serving.

Step 4. Put salad in serving bowl and top with chopped pecans before serving and enjoy!

Leftovers & Storage
You can cover any leftover green fluff with plastic wrap (or put it in an airtight container) and keep it up in the refrigerator for up to three days. When serving leftovers, gently stir the fluff before serving again.
Tips & Tricks
- Make sure that your whipped topping is thawed so that it will mix in smoothly. Be sure to use Cool Whip and not just whipped cream. They have different textures and it will not be quite right if you donโt use whipped topping.
- You can use your favorite nuts in this recipe. Try walnuts or pistachios!
- You can also use the pineapple juice. Some people do not drain their crushed pineapple. I tend to drain the juice that I can because I prefer the pistachio fruit salad to be a little thicker in texture. Mixing in more juice will give you a bit thinner of a consistency.
- You can also garnish this fluff salad with maraschino cherries for an extra pop of color!
