Dinner rolls have never been easier! Air Fryer Dinner Rolls are perfect for tonight’s dinner or for when you need to whip up bread for Thanksgiving dinner! Making frozen rolls in the air fryer is a trick that everyone needs up their sleeve!
Air Fryer Frozen Dinner Rolls
I discovered this recipe in the middle of the busy holiday season. We used to have double ovens but when we redid our kitchen, I changed over to a single oven. When you’ve got a list of things to bake for Thanksgiving or Christmas, you start looking for ways to use your other appliances.
That’s how I discovered the magic of air fryer dinner rolls! This method also works well if you make a big family dinner. Any time you’re using your oven for a lot, think about trying to air fry something like bread or side dishes.
Why You’ll Love Air Fryer Rolls
- Quick & Easy – You’ll have fresh dinner rolls in less than 10 minutes! You can make as many batches as you need — whether you want a few rolls or a bunch!
- Frozen or Homemade – You can use the air fryer to make frozen rolls or use your or bread dough. The air fryer works well for both types of dinner rolls. You can use frozen rolls, yeast rolls, or even store bought rolls in your air fryer.
- Perfect for Holidays – This recipe is the perfect way to free up space in your oven when you’re prepping for big meals like Thanksgiving and Christmas!
Air fryer breads aren’t something that you might think of when you’re thinking about using your air fryer, but they’re a great way to get warm, delicious homemade dinner rolls.
How Long to Heat Dinner Rolls in Air Fryer
If you’re cooking frozen rolls, you will need 5 to 7 minutes per batch of rolls. The number of rolls you can cook at once will depend on the size of your air fryer basket.
You can also reheat rolls in the air fryer. That only takes 2 to 3 minutes per batch. If you’re wanting to use the air fryer to heat up premade rolls, you can put them in the air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes as well. This will warm them up in a way that’s very enjoyable.
Ingredients
This recipe makes 3-4 servings based on the size of my air fryer. If you have a larger air fryer, you can bake more in each batch. It takes about 2 minutes to prep and 5-7 minutes to cook.
To make this recipe you need:
- 3 to 4 frozen dinner rolls
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
The number of rolls you make at a time depends on the size of the dinner rolls and the size of your air fryer basket.
For this recipe, I often use Sister Schubert’s Frozen Rolls but you can use any brand that you prefer. You just want to make sure that you’re using a type of frozen roll that has been completely cooked before being frozen.
I always look for frozen rolls that don’t need to be thawed and given time to let the dough rise. You can use these types as well, but you’ll need to allot for a warm place and rise time. Not as quick and easy as the rolls that are prebaked and then frozen!
How to Cook Air Fryer Bread Rolls
I recommend preheating your air fryer for this recipe. Not all models require this but some will. Whether your air fryer requires preheating or not, I really like to do it when baking bread.
If you don’t have a preheat setting, it’s easy to do. Put the air fryer basket in the air fryer and turn it on. Set it to 350°F for a few minutes before putting the bread in the air fryer.
While the air fryer is heating up, melt the butter in the microwave. It should only take 10-20 seconds.
Brush each dinner roll with melted butter and place in the air fryer basket.
Cook at 350°F for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
Leftovers & Reheating
You can store leftover rolls in an airtight container for 4-5 days. You can store them at room temperature or in the refrigerator. You can also wrap them rightly in plastic wrap.
I don’t recommend refreezing these rolls once you have cooked them.
When you want to reheat the rolls, you can use the microwave for 15-20 seconds or you can put them in the air fryer again. If you put them in the air fryer, set it to 350°F and leave them in for a few minutes.

Sister Schubert’s Parker House Style Yeast Rolls
If you like the Sister Schubert’s Parker House Style Yeast Rolls in the aluminum pan, you can also air fry them!
If the pan fits in your air fryer basket, you can leave the rolls in the dish they come in. But if they do not, you can take them out.
You will need additional cooking time for this type of roll. I recommend 12-15 minutes at 350°F. When I make yeast rolls, I usually brush them with melted butter around the final 2-3 minutes of cooking in the air fryer.
Can you heat brown & serve rolls in air fryer?
Absolutely! These are some of my favorite rolls at Thanksgiving. We used to have them growing up so they’re just tradition for me.
Simply pull them apart and place them in the air fryer basket. Brush with butter (or put a pat of butter inside of them if they’re thawed already) and then cook at 350°F. You may not need as much cook time for these. I recommend checking them at 5 minutes.
You can always try different types of frozen rolls in your air fryer. Just look at the instructions on the packaging to check that they’re cooked prior to freezing.
