    AIR FRYER HOME FRIES

Whether you call them home fries or breakfast potatoes, you have to agree that these crispy potatoes are delicious and they’re so easy to make in the air fryer! The ingredient list is simple and the flavor is wonderful!

Whether you’re making an omelet or scrambling some eggs, these air fryer fried potatoes are one of the easiest air fryer recipes and are a perfect breakfast side dish!

HOW TO MAKE CRISPY BREAKFAST POTATOES

To make these home fries, you’ll need a few basic ingredients. This recipe makes four servings, takes about five minutes to prepare, and 20 minutes to cook. Here’s what you need to make this easy side dish:

    • Frozen, diced potatoes (or raw, cubed potatoes)
    • Vegetable oil or Olive oil
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Seasoning salt

Exact measurements for each ingredient are included in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

HOW TO COOK HOME FRIES IN AIR FRYER

To get started put four cups of frozen potatoes in a large bowl.

Add the vegetable oil then season with salt, pepper, and seasoning salt. Stir until the potatoes are coated well with oil and seasonings.

Pour the potatoes into the air fryer basket.

Cook at 400° for 20 minutes. Shake the potato chunks halfway through the cooking time to toss them and get more even cooking. (Cook times can vary based on your air fryer model so keep an eye on the potatoes to make sure they don’t get overcooked.)

Serve immediately and enjoy them with your favorite breakfast foods!

HOW TO SEASON AIR FRYER HOME FRIES

When I make these potatoes, I really want to be able to taste the potato flavor. To season the potatoes in this recipe, I use some seasoning salt, pink sea salt, and pepper. You can also use some garlic powder or even a different variety of seasoning salts to get a different flavor while still being able to really taste the potato.

DO I HAVE TO SOAK THE POTATOES?

When I make these fried potatoes, I usually use frozen diced potatoes. When I use frozen potatoes, I do not ever soak them. I use a bit of oil, season them, and put them in the air fryer. They always come out crispy.

If you’re using raw potatoes, you might soak them but you don’t have to. Many recipes call for it, but in my experience, you can do it or not and you’ll still get delicious fried potatoes.

Soaking the potatoes helps get some of the starch out and that can help up the crispiness. If you don’t soak the potatoes, you’ll still get crispy potatoes when you use the air fryer. But if you want them to stay crispy for a longer period of time (if you’re not planning to eat them right away), soaking them definitely helps.

If desired, soak the potatoes in cold water for about 10-15 minutes, drain potatoes, and then blot them dry. You want to make sure they’re dry so they don’t just steam when you cook them.

    HOW TO REHEAT HOME FRIES

I prefer to reheat any leftovers in the air fryer. The air circulation helps them come out crispier. You can put them in the air fryer again at 400°. The most time I’ve ever needed was 5-6 minutes to get them warm and crisp.

You can also use the microwave to warm them up quickly. They will come out softer than if you use the air fryer.

WHAT DO I SERVE WITH BREAKFAST POTATOES?

Home fries are great when paired with eggs! Scrambled eggs are one of the easiest to do but I love them with an omelet or even my over-easy eggs. Pair with some sauteed vegetables for even more flavor!

Add some bacon, sausage or ham for a full breakfast (that is also delicious as breakfast for dinner!)

The great thing about these potatoes is that they can really be paired with almost anything! We’ve had these savory breakfast potatoes with cube steak before and they’re just as delicious with dinner! Try them with air fryer sirloin steak!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOME FRIES AND HASHBROWNS?

Home fries are made with cubed potatoes. Classic home fries are usually paired with onions and peppers. This recipe doesn’t include them, but you can easily add them to the mix when you throw the potatoes in the fryer basket.

Hashbrowns are shaved potatoes so they have a very different texture. You can also cook frozen or fresh hashbrowns in the air fryer using the same basic steps in this recipe.

For another way to make potatoes in the air fryer, try making baked potatoes!

    FIND THE PERFECT AIR FRYER

There are many different models to choose from, so finding the best air fryer for your family can seem tricky. We own a larger on and a smaller one that I use for different things.
