I’ll just start by admitting that I love Christmas. Yes, I’m one of those people. Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year! There’s just something about the music and the feelings. Oh and the sweets. I love cute Christmas desserts and these Christmas Tree Brownies are some of our favorite holiday treats to make!

They’re super easy to make and the whole family can get involved which means you can make lots of new Christmas memories together! If you’re looking for another delicious and easy holiday treat, try our Christmas Crack Recipe! It’s SO easy and SO good!

    But back to the brownies!

    CHRISTMAS TREE BROWNIES

These Christmas brownies have the cute factor that I adore when it comes to the holidays, but they’re also really simple to make. You can make your brownies from scratch if you’re feeling like it or you can do what I usually do and use a box mix.

You could even buy a tray of premade brownies at the store and turn them into Christmas Tree brownies for a fun thing to do with the kids during winter break.

No matter what kind of brownies you make, there is one very important thing you have to do when you’re making these brownies. MAKE SURE YOUR BROWNIES ARE COMPLETELY COOLED BEFORE CUTTING AND DECORATING!

Just trust me on this one. If you don’t want until the brownies are completely cooled all you end up with is a big mess. A tasty mess, but still a mess!

So bake your brownies in a square pan according to the directions on the packaging and then let them cool completely! (Honestly, I’d plan to wait an hour or two for them to cool. Bake them in the morning and promise your kids a fun decorating activity in the afternoon!)

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE BROWNIE CHRISTMAS TREES

You can get the full printable recipe at the bottom of this post but here is a list of what you’ll need to make your holiday tree brownies as well as some tips for preparing them!

    Here’s what you need:

    • Brownies baked in a square pan
    • Premade vanilla icing (or you can usually just buy premade green frosting around the holidays so look for it!)
    • Green food coloring
    • Piping bag or zip-top storage bag
    • Green decorating sugar
    • Christmas light sprinkles (you can also use regular rainbow sprinkles or M&M candy too!)
    • Star sprinkles

The great thing about these brownies is that you can use whatever you’d like to decorate them. For this version, we used the sprinkles and decorating sugar but you can use any cute things you can find! Any holiday sprinkles work well and I love using things like M&Ms, chocolate chips, and even peppermint chips!

    HOW TO CUT BROWNIES

When I set out to make these brownies into Christmas trees I spent a little too much time thinking about how to cut them. I figured I’d have to use a cookie cutter or something but then it seemed like I’d have a lot of wasted brownie edges.

It turns out it’s actually pretty easy to get the most triangle-shaped brownies as possible from your pan of brownies.

If you start with a square pan of brownies, all you have to do is first cut it in half down the middle. Then cute triangles out of each side. You’ll be left with four edge pieces you can get rid of or enjoy! Just cut them down the middle first. Then it’s easier to cut triangles!

    2. Allow to cool completely, then carefully remove brownies from pan and place on a large cutting board.

    3. Cut the brownie in half, then cut triangles out of each side. Discard the four edge pieces.

    4. Prepare your icing by mixing green food coloring into the premade vanilla icing until the desired color is reached.
