Whether it’s Easter or you want to make deviled eggs or egg salad, having the perfect boiled eggs is important! Making Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs is one of the easiest ways to make them!

You’ll get a dozen well-cooked eggs and they’re easy to peel too!

Scroll down for a printable recipe or read on to get tips and tricks for boiling eggs in your pressure cooker!

    Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs

    INSTANT POT HARD BOILED EGGS

Learning how to Instant Pot hard-boiled eggs was a game-changer for me. I love hard-boiled eggs and egg salad but I’ll admit that I’ve never been that great at cooking them on the stove. So now I have two ways I always boiled our eggs. I either use the Instant Pot or I make Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs!

Both ways give us perfectly cooked eggs and if you’re making a lot of eggs at once for Easter or deviled eggs, both methods help me save time too!

HOW MANY EGGS CAN YOU HARD BOIL IN INSTANT POT?

You can easily boil a dozen eggs in the Instant Pot, but you can also make just a few! This makes the Instant Pot a great option whether you just want some eggs for breakfast or a snack and great for special occasions like cookouts and Easter! (If you need another quick and easy way to make eggs, trying making microwave hard-boiled eggs too!)

CAN YOU STACK EGGS IN INSTANT POT?

I generally cook a dozen eggs in our Instant Pot so I don’t have to worry about stacking them much. But I’ve often wondered how many eggs I could boil at once. I figured this could be important around Easter!

The Cooking Family did a little kitchen experiment and they were able to stack 78 eggs in their 8 QT Instant Pot. They said they all cooked well but some were a bit overdone and you do run the possibility of a few cracking.

So you can definitely stack eggs in the Instant Pot if you need a large amount at one time.

CAN I MAKE INSTANT HARD BOILED EGGS WITHOUT RACK?

When you boil eggs in the pressure cooker, they can touch each other. You want to avoid them touching the sides of the inside of your Instant Pot. Using a trivet or egg rack can help with this.

You can just set the eggs in the bottom of the Instant Pot and it’s what I end up doing most of the time. But one way to make the eggs easier to make is to use a trivet rack or a rack made especially for eggs.

    • BUY A TRIVET RACK HERE
    • BUY AN EGG RACK HERE

Using these make it just a bit easier to keep the eggs organized in the pot. You can also use a steamer basket insert to keep the eggs away from the sides of the pot too.

DO HARD BOILED EGGS GO BAD?

Hard-boiled eggs can be kept in the refrigerator for a week. If you keep the eggs in the shell they will be good for up to a week after you boil them. If you peel them, you should eat them the same day they’re peeled.

If you’re using the eggs for Easter, be sure to store them in the refrigerator! If you plan to use them for an egg hunt, make sure they’re all found and put away if they’re going to be eaten!

    PRESSURE COOKER HARD BOILED EGGS

This recipe makes 12 eggs and takes five minutes of cooking time. Remember that it does take the Instant Pot time to come to pressure before the cooking time begins.

I usually use large eggs in my house so that’s what we used for this recipe.

    • Large eggs
    • Water
    • Bowl of ice water

INSTANT POT HARD BOILED EGGS 5-5-5 METHOD

It’s easy to remember how to cook your hard-boiled eggs by using the 5-5-5 cooking method. It’s so simple!

5 minutes to come to pressure – 5 minutes of cooking time – 5 minutes natural pressure release

I also recommend finishing it with 5 minutes of an ice water bath to cool the eggs for easy peeling.

Just follow the rule of fives for this recipe!

I should mention that I’ve only used a 6QT Instant Pot to make hard-boiled eggs.

HOW TO MAKE HARD BOILED EGGS IN INSTANT POT

To start, place the rack in the bottom of the inner bowl of the Instant Pot. Then pour water into the pot.

You can use a special egg rack or the one that came with your Instant Pot. You can also just set the eggs in the bottom of the pressure cooker if you don’t have a rack.

Place the eggs on the rack.

Put the lid on the Instant Pot and seal the valve. Press the Manual button and set for five minutes (on high pressure).

When the cooking time is finished, allow the Instant Pot to release the pressure naturally for five minutes. Then carefully do a quick release with the valve.

Bowl of ice water on counter

Move the eggs to a bowl of ice water to cool for five minutes.

Peel by rolling on the counter and then peeling. Then enjoy!
