    Easy Pumpkin Fluff Dip

5 Minute Pumpkin Fluff Dip gives off all of the pumpkin vibes without any of the baking time!

With a can of pumpkin puree, a package of pudding, and a container of whipped topping, youโ€™ll be ready to welcome those fall flavors! Adding in the pumpkin pie spice really brings this recipe to life!

Itโ€™s a great addition to your Halloween parties and Thanksgiving dessert tables!

What is Pumpkin Pie Spice Made of?

Pumpkin spice is usually a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.

    It can also include allspice.

    Pumpkin Dip Ingredients

You only need a handful of ingredients to make this simple recipe. Hereโ€™s a quick shopping list:

    • pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie filling)
    • instant vanilla pudding mix (powder)
    • pumpkin pie spice
    • cinnamon
    • vanilla extract
    • frozen whipped topping, thawed (Cool Whip)
    • things to dip with โ€“ graham crackers, vanilla sandwich cookies, ginger snaps, apples, pretzels, vanilla wafers

Exact measurements can be found in the recipe card at the bottom.

Pumpkin puree is actually available the entire year in most places, so this easy dip recipe isnโ€™t limited to the fall season!

    Pumpkin Fluff Dip Recipe Instructions

Be sure to thaw your Cool Whip before making this recipe. Once itโ€™s thawed, you can put this dip recipe in five minutes! You can use regular, sugar free, or fat free Cool Whip for this recipe!

In a large mixing bowl, stir together the pumpkin, vanilla instant pudding mix, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until the pudding is dissolved.

Fold in the whipped topping until well combined.

You can serve the dip immediately, but I recommend that you cover and chill the dip for at 30-60 minutes before serving.

Itโ€™s really best when itโ€™s nice and cold.

Serve in the large bowl with cookies or graham crackers for dipping or transfer to individual serving bowls and top with whipped cream.

    Leftovers & Storage

Cover any leftover pumpkin dip or put it in an airtight container. It can be stored for 2-3 days in the refrigerator.

I do not recommend freezing leftovers.

    What Goes with Pumpkin Fluff?

You can serve this pumpkin Cool Whip dessert with almost anything you can dream up! If you think it might taste good, go for it! But here are some recommendations:

    • graham crackers (try the cinnamon graham crackers!)
    • vanilla sandwich cookies  (like Golden Oreos)
    • ginger snaps
    • vanilla wafers
    • animal crackers
    • pretzels
    • apple slices
    • baked pie crust pieces

You can also top smaller servings with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice, chocolate chips, baked bits of pie crust, or chopped pecans.

    Recipe Tips & Tricks

There are some easy substitutions you can make in the dessert recipe if youโ€™re looking for a lower calorie version or a sugar free version:

    • Lighter version: Use fat free Cool Whip and sugar free pudding mix. Serve with apple slices or low fat graham crackers.
    • Sugar free version: Use sugar free Cool Whip and sugar free vanilla pudding mix to make this a sugar free recipe. Serve with sugar free or lower sugar dipper options.
    • Gluten-free version: This dip recipe is gluten-free. Just be sure that you use gluten-free dippers!

Itโ€™s fine to serve this pumpkin dip at room temperature, but I highly recommend chilling it until youโ€™re ready to serve it so it keeps itโ€™s soft and fluffy texture.

Be sure to thaw your whipped topping before making this recipe! You can leave it out on the counter for an 1-2 hours or let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight.

    FAQs

Can I use cream cheese in this recipe?

You can turn this into a Pumpkin Cheesecake dip by using cream cheese in addition to the whipped topping. The texture will be a bit different but itโ€™s still a delicious pumpkin dessert dip!

To do that, youโ€™ll need one 8oz package of cream cheese. Youโ€™ll want to let it soften before using it.

Mix the cream cheese with the pumpkin puree then add the pudding mix and spices. Fold the whipped topping in last.

Can I make pumpkin fluff without pudding?

You can make this without the instant pudding mix. Simply omit it and continue with the rest of the recipe. This will change the texture and the flavor of the pumpkin fluff.

Can I just use cinnamon instead of pumpkin pie spice?

If you donโ€™t have any pumpkin pie spice, you can still get a fluffy dip with tons of fall flavor by substituting with the spices you do have on hand.

Pumpkin spice is usually a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. Sometimes it may also include allspice.

Since this recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, you would do 1/4 teaspoon of each of the four spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and ginger). You may find you want a bit more cinnamon than the others.

Can I substitute allspice for pumpkin pie spice?

Allspice is often one of the spices included in pumpkin spice so it can work well as a swap. I would start with about half the amount of allspice and check your flavor so it doesnโ€™t get too overwhelming.

Can I use heavy whipping cream instead of whipped topping?

You would need to use the heavy whipping cream to make your own whipped cream. Obviously, that can be done. But it will add a lot of prep time to this simple recipe.

Cool whip and other frozen whipped topping has itโ€™s own distinct flavor and texture that lends very well to this recipe.

Can you freeze pumpkin fluff dip?

The technical answer is yes, you can freeze pumpkin dip. However, I do not recommend it because freezing it can change the texture.

One of the best parts about this pumpkin recipe is the light and creamy texture.

How long does pumpkin fluff last?

You can store your fluff dip for three days in the refrigerator. It can last for up to 5 days but I recommend enjoying it within 2-3 days.
