    Air Fryer Egg Cups

If youโ€™re looking for a better option for breakfast, these are great because theyโ€™re high in protein. When you use an air fryer to make these egg cups, you get quick and easy breakfast bites that are great for on-the-go meals or snacks

    Why Youโ€™ll Love This Recipe

    • Easy Preparation: Mix ingredients and cook in an air fryer for a fast meal. Very little prep time or cleanup is needed to make these!
    • Customizable: Adjust the egg bites to your dietary needs and tastes. You can even customize them for each member of the family!
    • Versatile: These work great for breakfast at home or on the go. They also make a great lunch option too.

Equipment to Make Egg Bites in the Air Fryer

    • Air Fryer
    • Silicone Muffin Cups: These are heat-resistant and perfect for shaping egg bites. You can also get a silicone egg mold but I always use my muffin cups. You can also try muffin tins made for air fryers (check your model size) or oven-safe ramekins.
    • Large Mixing Bowl
    • Whisk or Fork
    • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Whether you use silicone muffin cups, ramekins, or another way to cook your egg muffins, you want to make sure that your cups, molds, or pan allow the air to circulate so you get even cooking.

    Simple Ingredients

The ingredient list for this basic recipe is very easy. You can add almost anything you want to this recipe. To make ham and cheddar cheese egg cups, youโ€™ll need:

    • Large eggs
    • Milk
    • Cheddar cheese
    • Bacon pieces
    • Salt & black pepper

Complete instructions and full measurements can be found in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

    Egg Bite Variations

You can tweak this air fryer breakfast recipe in several ways. When it comes to mix-ins, just be careful not to add too many because then your egg bites may not stay together well.

    Eggs

For the egg base, you can choose to use the whole egg, use only egg whites, or even use liquid eggs. This recipe will work for all of them.

You can make this recipe with just eggs and milk if you donโ€™t want to use cheese, veggies, or meats.

    Cheese

We often use cheddar cheese because I usually have it on hand, but you can play with the flavors and use a variety of different cheeses.

    Some cheeses to try include:

    • Sharp cheddar
    • Mozzarella
    • Goat cheese
    • Feta cheese
    • Swiss
    • Parmesan

    Meats

This version of air fryer egg cups uses bacon, but you can use almost any meat that you like with eggs! Try some of these:

    • Sausage
    • Diced ham
    • Shredded beef
    • Shredded pork

    Vegetables

I often put veggies in my egg cups. My kids arenโ€™t the biggest fans, so Iโ€™ll skip vegetables for them. But I love that I can make a batch of these and do a few for each person in the family. Some of my favorite vegetables to use include:

    • Spinach
    • Green onions/scallions
    • Tomatoes
    • Mushrooms
    • Bell pepper
    • Zucchini
    • Sun-dried tomatoes

If you can put it in an omelet, you can put it in an egg bite!

One thing to be careful with when adding veggies is that you donโ€™t want chunks of harder vegetables to be too large or they may not cook all the way through. You can always microwave them a bit before adding them to the egg mixture to soften them up.

    Seasonings

Donโ€™t be afraid to try different seasonings in your egg mixture! Seasonings and spices are a great way to change up the flavor of this recipe.

Basic salt and pepper are my staples, but Iโ€™ve also tried some of the following:

    • Garlic powder
    • Mustard powder
    • Onion powder
    • Basil
    • Chili powder
    • Cayenne
    • Italian seasoning
    • Fresh herbs

Play around with it! This is a simple recipe to learn and it doesnโ€™t get old because you can change it up so easily!

How to Make Air Fryer Egg Bites

Preheat. Preheat your air fryer to 350ยฐF (if required by your air fryer model).

    Prepare the egg base.

Gather all of your ingredients. Then, in a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Stir in the shredded cheese and bacon (or whatever mix-ins youโ€™re using for this recipe).

Egg mix in air fryer basket

    Fill the egg molds.

Set the silicone baking cups (or silicone egg mold) in the air fryer basket. Pour the egg mixture into your silicone cups. Fill it just below the rim so there is some space for the eggs to rise as they cook.

Sprinkle additional cheese on top, if desired.

    Cook the egg bites.

Cook for 10 to 12 minutes or until the eggs are just set up.

Your cooking time may need to be adjusted based on the size of your egg cups. If making smaller cups, reduce your cooking time.

After 8 minutes, check the egg bites. They should be firm to the touch and fully set. If not, continue cooking, checking every minute to prevent overcooking.

Allow the egg cups to rest for 5 minutes before removing from the muffin cups or egg bite molds.

Itโ€™s important to keep an eye on the egg cups while they cook to make sure you get a fluffy and moist texture. Overcooking can result in a rubbery feel, so adjust cooking time as needed for your specific air fryer model and mold size.

    Storage and Leftovers

Before storing any leftovers, make sure that the air fryer egg bites have cooled completely. You can then store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.

If you want to store them longer, wrap each egg bite in plastic wrap before putting them in a freezer-safe container. You can store them in the freezer for about 2 months.

Reheating is simple! You can pop refrigerated egg cups in the air fryer at 350ยฐ F for two to three minutes or until heated thoroughly.

If starting from frozen, first defrost them in the microwave in 30-second intervals, then crisp them up in the air fryer for a perfect finish. You can also put frozen egg bites in your lunch bag and they will be thawed by the time youโ€™re ready to eat.

    Recipe Tips

    • You can use whole eggs, egg whites, or liquid eggs.
    • Use silicone muffin cups, a silicone mold, a small muffin pan, or ramekins that are air fryer-safe.
    • Prevent sticking by greasing the mold with non-stick cooking spray if your egg bites are getting stuck.
    • Add cooked meats or vegetables as desired but donโ€™t add too much of your mix-ins because then the egg bites will have trouble holding together.
