The big game is right around the corner and if you’re having people over this weekend, you probably have two things on your mind — FOOD and CLEANING! The food is probably more enjoyable than the cleaning, but have no fear because you can get your house party-ready with these quick cleaning tips!

QUICK & EASY PARTY CLEANING TIPS
The most important thing to remember if you have friends and family coming over to watch the game, they’re coming over to spend time with the people they love. If there’s a little dust on a shelf or a few toys scattered around, no one is going to care! They’re going to cheer and boo just as loud as if the dust wasn’t there!
But I also know I like to have my house looking fairly put together when I know I’m having people over. So if you’re looking at tidying up around the house this week, these party cleaning tips will make sure you get the basics covered!

1. MAIN LIVING AREA
Whether you call it the living room, the family room, or the den, a lot of time is going to spent in your main living space during the big game — especially if that’s where your television is!
So make this area one of your priorities!
Tackle these areas to make sure you feel good about having everyone in your main living space:
- Pick up small toys and put them away or put them in a bin.
- Take large toys or big baby items out of the room for the day.
- Vacuum or sweep.
- Straighten pillows and wash any blankets that might be used.
- Wipe down coffee table, end tables, etc.
You might not be able to get to everything before the game, but you can focus on the main entertainment areas!
2. KITCHEN
The other area of the house where people will be spending a lot of time is probably the kitchen. Food is a big thing when it comes to game day. So focus on cleaning your kitchen area to help yourself feel more prepared!
People tend to gather in the kitchen, especially if that’s where the food is set up.
If you want to do a deeper clean and hit the floors in the kitchen area, do that earlier in the week. It will be good enough, I promise!
Before you start prepping any food, make sure to wipe down your counters and any food prep areas. But once the food is ready, I suggest you give yourself time to hit these areas:
- Wipe down counters
- Wipe off the stovetop
- Clean the sink
Doing those after your prep your food will give the kitchen a fresh and clean feel before your guests start to arrive. If you end up with last-minute dishes in the sink, just stash them in the dishwasher until the game is over and everyone goes home so you have an empty sink when the festivities start!
3. BATHROOMS
The third area that will be busy during your party is the bathroom! If you have kids you know that sometimes the bathroom is less than welcoming.
A few days before your party, do a deep clean of the bathroom your guests will be using.
You only have to focus on the bathroom your guests will be using!
Clean the toilet, sink, and floor. On the day of the party, do a final check on the bathroom. Wipe down the sink and check the toilet to make sure it’s looking good.
One more thing to do before your guests arrive is to make sure your bathroom is stocked with essentials that are easy to find. You don’t want to spend the party running around getting more toilet paper! Make sure you have plenty of these items:
- Toilet paper
- Disposable hand towels
- Tissues
- Hand soap
And make sure the items that might need to be refilled are easy to find. Set out a few extra rolls of toilet paper where they’re easily seen and most of your guests will take care of it for you!
