Youโll also need a few things from the kitchen:
For frozen potato skins, I like to have tongs around in case I need to move the potatoes around during cooking. It also makes it easier to get them out when theyโre done cooking.

Adding Seasonings & Toppings
If you want to spice up your frozen potato skins, you can add your own seasonings and toppings once theyโre done. Now these are perfectly delicious out of the air fryer, but it can be fun to jazz them up a bit too.
Seasonings
You can sprinkle the cooked potatoes with seasonings to bring out extra flavor.
- Garlic powder: Sprinkle right after cooking for a subtle kick.
- Paprika: Adds a smoky edge to balance out the rich cheese.
- Ground black pepper: A classic touch to enhance overall flavor.
- Chili powder or cayenne: Perfect if you enjoy a little heat.
Toppings
You can also add extra toppings to your air fried potato skins. Here are some of our favorites:
- Sour cream: A dollop on each skin balances the crispiness with creamy coolness. I absolutely love sour cream with potatoes so this is always a yes for me.
- Green onions or chives: Sprinkle freshly chopped herbs for a pop of color and flavor.
- Extra cheese: Add shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack in the last minute of cooking for an even cheesier finish.
- Crumbled bacon: Add freshly cooked bits for extra crunch. You can add this in the last minute of cooking or right when the potatoes come out of the air fryer.
- Hot sauce: A quick drizzle of hot sauce really brings the heat if your family loves that. (My husband and son do. Meโฆ not so much!)
- Dipping sauce station:ย Create a small dipping station with a few sauces so everyone can pick their favorite! You can use sour cream, ranch dressing, barbeque sauce, buffalo sauce, horseradish, and more!
Serving Suggestions
Serving these can be just as fun as eating them. Here are some fun ideas, dipping sauces, and pairings.
- Add classic toppings: You can serve them with the extra toppings on the side like a mini potato skin bar. Include things like a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of green onions, and bacon bits to keep it simple.
- Serve with dipping sauces: Options like ranch, chipotle mayo, or even barbecue sauce are perfect companions. You can also try our homemade blue cheese dressing, garlic dipping sauce, bacon aioli, or horseradish aioli.
- Make an appetizer platter: Arrange the crispy skins on a large serving dish with toppings in the center for easy access. Or you can make a snack board with the potato skins, sliders, mozzarella sticks, fresh veggies, and other appetizers.
- Grab a cold drink: These potato skins go great with an ice-cold soda, a beer, or even a sparkling water!
Leftovers & Storage
These potato skins are best eaten fresh out of the air fryer, but leftovers donโt have to go to waste.
Allow any leftovers to cool completely. Then put them in an airtight container. I suggest putting a paper towel inside the container to help absorb moisture and prevent the potatoes from getting soggy.
You can store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. I donโt recommend refreezing them though.
The best way to reheat the leftover potato skins is in the air fryer. Itโs the best way to get as much crispiness back. Cook at 375ยฐF for 3-5 minutes, or until theyโre hot and crispy again. Avoid microwaving as it can make them soggy.
