    • Apple pie spice

    Step By Step Instructions

This recipe makes 10 servings. It takes 10 minutes of prep time and 40 minutes of bake time.

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350โ„‰.

Step 2. Spray a 9ร—13 dish with nonstick spray.

Step 3. Dump the cans of apple filling into the 9ร—13 pan and spread out in an even layer over the bottom of the baking dish.

    Variations

    • You can swap the apple pie filling for peach, cherry, or blueberry pie filling to change up the flavor.
    • Add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts on top for extra crunch.
    • Sprinkle a little brown sugar and cinnamon between layers for even more cozy flavor.
    • Try using a spice cake, french vanilla or white cake mix instead of yellow.
    • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat.

    Leftovers & Storage

To store leftover apple dump cake, cover the pan with foil or transfer pieces to an airtight container. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to four days. When youโ€™re ready to enjoy it again, warm up a slice in the microwave before serving.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Melt the butter before pouring it over the cake mix so every bite comes out golden and rich.
    • Spread the cake mix evenly and donโ€™t stir it together with the pie filling. This helps create that perfect crumbly topping.
    • Let the dump cake cool for about 15 minutes before serving. It will set up and be easier to scoop.
    • If you like extra spice, add a shake of cinnamon or nutmeg to the apple pie filling.
    • For easy cleanup, you can also line your baking dish with parchment paper if you do not want to use nonstick spray.

    Recipe FAQs

Can I use fresh apples instead of apple pie filling?
Yes, you can! Just slice your apples, mix them with a little sugar, cinnamon, and a splash of lemon juice, and use them in place of the canned filling.

Does the cake need to be refrigerated after baking?
I do recommend storing leftovers in the fridge to keep everything fresh. Theyโ€™ll last up to four days.

Can I make this ahead of time?
Absolutely! You can bake it a day in advance and reheat before serving. It tastes just as good the next day.

Whatโ€™s the best way to serve this cake?
We love it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or some whipped cream on top.

Can I use a different kind of cake mix?
For sure! White, spice, or even carrot cake mix all work well and give the dessert a different flavor.
