    Ingredients & Equipment

This chocolate dip for fruitโ€™s ingredient list is super simple. You only need 4 ingredients (plus your favorite fruit or dippers) and theyโ€™re all easy to find at your local grocery store.

    • Cream cheese
    • Powdered sugar
    • Cocoa powder
    • Whipped topping (Cool Whip)
    • Strawberries, bananas, graham crackers, or other dippers

Full measurements for each ingredient can be found in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Youโ€™ll also need a few things from the kitchen:

    • Electric hand mixer (you can also use a stand mixer)
    • Large mixing bowl
    • Silicone spatula
    • Measuring cups
    • Serving bowl

Ingredients to make chocolate fruit dip

    Step By Step Instructions

This recipe makes 12 servings. It takes about 10 minutes of prep time and I recommend chilling for at least 1 hour before serving if possible.

Step 1.ย Allow the cream cheese to soften at room temperature. Thaw the whipped topping.

Step 2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar with the mixer on high speed until smooth and creamy.

Step 3. Add the cocoa powder, and beat until the color is solid.

Step 4. Use the spatula to gently fold the whipped topping into the mixture.

Step 5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until ready to serve. Serve with your favorite fruit or other dippers.

    Variations

Here are some easy ways you can change up this basic chocolate fruit dip:

    • Add a swirl of peanut butter or Nutella for extra richness.
    • Mix in a splash of flavored extracts like vanilla, almond, or mint.
    • Fold in mini chocolate chips or crushed cookies for texture.
    • Top with sprinkles, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut.
    • Stir in a little espresso powder for a mocha twist.
    • Add a pinch of cinnamon or chili powder for a flavor kick.

What to Dip in Chocolate Fruit Dip

While this easy fruit dip is perfect with strawberries (who doesnโ€™t love chocolate and strawberries), it also pairs well with different kinds of fruit. Try some of these ideas:

    • Apple slices
    • Banana chunks
    • Pineapple pieces
    • Orange segments
    • Raspberries
    • Blackberries
    • Grapes
    • Pear slices
    • Kiwi slices
    • Cherries (pitted)

But donโ€™t limit yourself to just fruit! Itโ€™s also delicious with non-fruit dippers like these:

    • Pretzels
    • Graham crackers
    • Marshmallows
    • Vanilla wafers
    • Biscotti
    • Animal crackers
    • Pound cake cubes
    • Shortbread cookies
    • Rice crispy treats
    • Brownie bites
    • Sugar cookies
    • Waffle pieces

    Leftovers & Storage

You can keep your chocolate fruit dip any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Because this easy dip uses cream cheese, you want to make sure you donโ€™t let it sit out at room temperature for more than 2 hours. You can put it in the refrigerator to chill it again if you are serving it for longer periods of time. If it has sat out for awhile, be sure to stir it.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Let the cream cheese sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before mixing. This will help you to get a smooth and lump-free mixture.
    • Be sure to gently fold in whipped topping with a spatula to keep the dip light and fluffy.
    • For a thicker dip, use less whipped topping. For a fluffier dip, add more.
    • You can use a stand mixer or an electric mixer to blend the ingredients together. If you donโ€™t have either, you can just use a spatula or mixing spoon. It will just take a bit more work on your part.
