What I love most about these Oreo bat Halloween treats is how foolproof they are. You literally canโ€™t mess them up, and they require no baking whatsoever. Plus, theyโ€™re the perfect size for trick-or-treat bags, Halloween parties, or when you need a last-minute contribution to the school Halloween celebration.

    Ingredients & Equipment

    Youโ€™ll need these simple ingredients:

    • Cream cheese, softened
    • Oreo cookies
    • Candy eyeballs

Full measurements for each ingredient can be found in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Youโ€™ll also need a few things from your kitchen:

    • Measuring cup
    • Food processor
    • Plastic gloves
    • Baking sheet
    • Parchment paper

    Step By Step Directions

This recipe makes 12 servings. It takes 20 minutes of prep time and 1 hour of chill time.

Step 1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2. Start by breaking apart 6 Oreo cookies and removing the cream filling. Then break them in half. These will be your wings. Set them aside.

Step 3. Add 24 Oreos to a food processor and crush to crumbs. Measure out ยผ cup and set aside.

Step 4. Add the remainder to a medium bowl and beat the Oreo crumbs and cream cheese together.

Step 5. Roll into 12 balls using plastic gloves.

Step 6. Roll the balls into the reserved ยผ cup of cookie crumbs. Set on the baking sheet.

Step 7. Gently press one Oreo half into each side of the ball to make the wings.

Step 8. Add two eyeballs in the front.

Step 9. Chill for 1 hour, or until ready to serve.

    Variations

    • Use different colored candy eyes for variety.
    • Roll the balls in crushed chocolate graham crackers instead of Oreo crumbs.
    • Add orange food coloring to the cream cheese mixture for Halloween colors.
    • Make mini versions using less cream cheese mixture for bite-sized treats.
    • Dip the finished bats in melted chocolate for an extra indulgent coating.
    • Use chocolate wafer cookies instead of Oreos for the wings.

    Leftovers & Storage

Store these Halloween Oreo bats in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container. They actually taste better after sitting overnight because the flavors meld together perfectly. You can make them up to 2 days ahead of your Halloween party.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Use plastic gloves when rolling the balls to prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands.
    • Make sure your cream cheese is fully softened before mixing for the smoothest texture.
    • Any cookies that break while making wings can be crushed and used for rolling the balls.
    • Press the wings gently into the sides so they stay put but donโ€™t crack the truffle.
    • Chill the finished bats for at least an hour so they hold their shape when serving.
    • Line up all your eyeballs before you start so assembly goes quickly.

    Recipe FAQs

Can I make these without a food processor?

You can crush the Oreos in a sealed plastic bag using a rolling pin, but a food processor gives you the most consistent crumb texture.

What if I canโ€™t find candy eyeballs?

You can use mini white chocolate chips or even small pieces of white chocolate and draw on pupils with black food coloring.

Can I freeze these Halloween truffles?

Yes, they freeze well for up to 3 months. Just thaw them in the refrigerator before serving.

How do I keep the wings from falling off?

Make sure to press them gently but firmly into the sides of the ball while the mixture is still soft, before chilling.

How far ahead can I make these?

These Oreo ball bats are perfect made 1-2 days ahead and stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
